Dr. Dmitri Solodow

Dr. Dmitri Solodow, 72, a long-time member of and subdeacon at Holy Trinity Cathedral here who for years distinguished himself as a member of the Orthodox Church in America’s Metropolitan Council and the Diocesan Council of the Diocese of the West and as a Special Advisor to the Holy Synod of Bishops on Strategic Planning, fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2014.

Dr. Solodow also served as a member of the Special Investigation, Strategic Plan, and Crisis Management Committees.  He was instrumental in guiding the Church through some of the more difficult times it faced during the past decade.

As a Director of Organizational Development Group of the Hagberg Consulting Group, Dr. Solodow served as an Economist for the US Federal Reserve and Director of the Human Resources Strategy Group for Deloitte and Touche.  He served over 13 years in Japan as an organizational and human resource consultant in addition to serving over 20 years as a management consultant in the US.

A faithful Orthodox Christian who believed strongly in the vision of the Orthodox Church in America, he was tonsured to the order of subdeacon by the late Metropolitan Ireney in the early 1960s.

“Dmitri was a faithful Orthodox Christian and a strong and active contributor to the Metropolitan Council and to countless other ministries in the Church,” said Metropolitan Tikhon upon learning of his repose.  “May our Lord bless him for his life and his labors with peace and tranquility in the mansions of Heaven.”

Dr. Solodow is survived by his wife of 23 years, Misuzu Masui; a sister; three nieces; and several grand nieces and nephews.
