Richard V. West, long time member of the Metropolitan Council and the Midwest Diocesan Council, fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday, June 1, 2014.
He was born on November 8, 1938 in Columbus Ohio to Sarah and Harrison T. West. A graduate of The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, Dr. West practiced dentistry in Akron and Fairlawn for 36 years. After retiring from his practice, Dr. West became a clinical instructor in the dental hygiene department at Stark State College and a volunteer at Akron General Medical Center.
Dr. West was a member of Saint Nicholas Church, Mogadore, OH, where he served in various capacities, including parish council president, choir member, and chairman of the annual fundraiser for more than 25 years. He also enjoyed serving the church as a member of the Diocesan and Metropolitan Councils of the Orthodox Church in America.
He is survived by wife of 53 years, Maryann; three children, Susan (Nikola) Resanovic, Stephanie (David) Reimund, and Thomas (Yulia) West; and several grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Saint Nicholas Church, 755 S. Cleveland Ave., Mogadore, OH on Thursday, June 5, beginning at 4:00 p.m. A Parastas will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday, June 6, at 9:30 a.m. with the Funeral service following at 10:30 a.m.
