Juliana Louise Paffhausen, mother of Metropolitan Jonah

Funeral services for Juliana Louise Paffhausen, beloved mother of His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, were celebrated at Saint John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Cathedral here on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 12-13, 2018.

Mrs. Paffhausen fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday, June 10.

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon sent a letter of condolence to Metropolitan Jonah and his family on behalf of the members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America.  The letter, dated June 11, reads as follows.

“Your Beatitude, Dear Brother in Christ:

“I was saddened to hear of the falling asleep in the Lord of your mother, Louise (Juliana).  Please accept my heartfelt prayers and the condolences of the members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America.

“I am sure that Juliana’s reception into the Church offers a measure of consolation to you, and the realization that she now inherits the Fullness of the Kingdom.

“Please be assured of our brotherly prayers for Juliana’s repose, as well as for the comfort and consolation of you at this sorrowful time.  May her memory be eternal.

“With love in the Lord, I remain
