Detroit conference to explore African roots of the ancient Christian Church

DETROIT, MI [OCA Communications] — Saint Paul Retreat Center, 23333 Schoolcraft Rd., Detroit, MI will be the site of a conference exploring the African Roots of the Ancient Christian Church June 22-25, 2006.

Sponsored by the Brotherhood of St. Moses the Black, the conference theme will be “Forgiveness: Bridging Racial Barriers to Achieve Harmony in Christ.”

The program will open with a visit to the Monastery of the Dormition of the Mother of God, Rives Junction, MI on Thursday afternoon, June 22. Lectures, discussions, and liturgical services will be held at the retreat center. The conference closes with the celebration of the Sunday Divine Liturgy.

Speakers include Fathers Moses Berry, Jerome Sanderson, Paisius Altschul, Antonio Perdomo, and Michael Simerick; Mother Katherine Weston; Prof. Al Raboteau; and Photius Meirthew.
