Detroit Orthodox parishes to tell Nativity story in icons

— The Council of Orthodox Christian Churches of Metropolitan Detroit [COCC] will sponsor “The Story of the Nativity As Told in Icons,” a presentation by the His Eminence, Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Episcopate of the Orthodox Church in America, on Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Saint George Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, 18405 W. Nine Mile Road, Southfield, MI at 6:30 p.m..

The evening’s program will include a concert of Orthodox Nativity carols and liturgical hymns by the COCC Inter-Orthodox Choir, a sing-along of familiar Christmas carols, and a visit by Saint Nicholas for children.

The COCC is a 49-year-old clergy and lay association that represents various canonical Orthodox churches in metropolitan Detroit. It promotes inter-Orthodox cooperation, heightens the Orthodox community’s awareness of its cultural heritage, and supports the Inter-Orthodox Choir and other Orthodox ministries and charities.
