Fr. Michael Tassos to step down as OCA Treasurer

Priest Michael Tassos has requested a blessing from His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah to be relieved of his assignment as Treasurer of the Orthodox Church in America, effective June 1, 2009. His request is due to personal, family considerations that make a move to the East Coast impossible at this time.

“His Beatitude has reluctantly agreed to Fr. Michael’s request,” said OCA Chancellor, Archpriest Alexander Garklavs. “Fr. Michael expressed his willingness to ensure a smooth transition for the OCA’s financial department. He will also continue assisting the ongoing investigations at St. Tikhon’s Monastery and the Diocese of Washington and New York.”

An announcement regarding the search for a new Treasurer for the Orthodox Church in America is forthcoming.
