Mark Bailey to lead discussion on OCA liturgical music chatroom March 21

SYOSSET, NY [OCA Communications] — Mr. Mark Bailey, lecturer in liturgical music at Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, Crestwood, NY since 1992, will moderate a discussion on “Good Habits of Orthodox Choirs during Great Lent and Holy Week” on the Orthodox Church in America’s music chatroom on Tuesday evening, March 21, from 8:30-9:30 PM EST.

The chat room, easily accessed through the OCA web site at http://www.oca.org and open to all choir directors, singers, and others interested in Orthodox Christian liturgical music, is sponsored by the Department of Liturgical Music and Translations.

In addition to lecturing at the seminary, Mr. Bailey is professor of the fine arts at Pace University, a fellow at Davenport College, Yale Universary, and artistic director of the Yale Russian Male Chorus, Inc. He will bring a wealth of experience and background to the chat room presentation and discussion.

The department continues to post PDF files of musical scores for the commemoration of the saints according to the Menaion and text files for all Vesper services, including the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, and the twelve Great Feasts, according to Prof. David Drillock, department chairman.
