Metropolitan Herman to preside at monastery pilgrimage

— His Beatitude, Metropolitan Herman, and His Eminence, Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Episcopate, will preside at the annual pilgrimage to the Monastery of the Holy Dormition here August 14 and 15, 2005, in conjunction with the community’s patronal feastday.

The pilgrimage will open on Sunday, August 14 with a light supper at 5:00 p.m., after which the festal Vigil will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m.

On Monday, August 15, the Great Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God, the Akathistos Hymn and the Third and Sixth Hours will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. The procession of the hierarchs to the pavillion, where the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., follows.

After lunch at 12:30 p.m., pilgrims are invited to attend the Unction Service at 2:30 p.m.

During the pilgrimage, Metropolitan Herman will meet briefly with representatives of Orthodox Christian Laity.
