New Orthodox Job web site to be used for Hurricane Katrina efforts

SYOSSET, NY [OCA Communications] — The recently established Orthodox Information Technologies Commission of the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas [SCOBA] recently announced that it will use its Orthodox Jobs web site at http://www.orthodoxjobs.com as a central clearinghouse for the free posting of jobs and volunteer efforts related to Hurricane Katrina.

“We are proud to offer this service to the Orthodox Church,” said Mr. Jamil Samara of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Department of Internet Ministries. “It is our hope and prayer that through OrthodoxJobs.com, the commission will not only be able to help publicize the numerous relief efforts that have begun across the country, but also provide a centralized place where Orthodox Christians can go and find out how to get involved in those efforts.”

Parishes or organizations wishing to post information about volunteer or paid opportunities for their disaster relief efforts may submit a free job posting at www.orthodoxjobs.com/relief.

OrthodoxJobs.com is a collaborative effort of the Information Technologies Commission of SCOBA, the Office of Vocation and Ministry at Hellenic College, Orthodox Christian Fellowship, and Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary. The goal of OrthodoxJobs.com is to assist individuals who are seeking employment in an Orthodox environment learn about the various opportunities available for serving the Church in either a full-time, part-time or volunteer capacity.
