OCA Church Planting Grant info, applications on-line

Information on and applications for the Orthodox Church in America’s Planting Grant Program are now available on the Church’s web site at Church Planting Grant Application.

Administered by the OCA’s Department of Evangelism, the program makes it possible for newly-established mission stations to engage the services of resident priests who would not have to rely on secular employment to support themselves and their ministry. Clergy serving mission stations on a Planting Grant are able to devote their time exclusively to building up and expanding the work and witness of the Church.

A total annual gift of $15,000 per year is sent to Planting Grant communities in monthly installments, to be matched by the local faithful and earmarked for clergy compensation. Qualifying mission stations may receive grants for a maximum of three years if approved at yearly review.

Primary funding for the program is derived from the OCA’s annual Missions Appeal.

Since its inception several years ago, nearly 20 mission stations have participated in the program.
