SVS To Host 2005 Summer Institute For High School Juniors

CRESTWOOD, NY [SVS/OCA Communications] — Applications are being accepted from high school juniors wishing to participate in the summer 2005 youth institute sponsored by Saint Vladimir’s Seminary here June 18-24.

“Every year, six high school juniors—three males and three females—are chosen from a pool of applicants and given full scholarships to attend the institute,” according to Julia Wickes, SVS spokesperson. “The program coincides with the seminary’s liturgical institute of music and pastoral practice. Youth participants attend some of the liturgical institute’s sessions in addition to their own discussion groups and excursions.”

This years’ institute will explore the relationship of the Orthodox Church to our surrounding culture.

High school juniors who are active in their parishes and motivated to devote a week of their summer in this fun but challenging program are encouraged to apply. Further information and application forms are available in the events section of the seminary’s web site, www.svots.edu. Enquirers may direct questions to the Very Rev.
