Task Force members announced

SYOSSET, NY [OCA Communications] — As recently announced, an Organizational Task Force has been established to review the present organizational structure and staffing of the Orthodox Church in America Chancery here. As well, a Best Practices Task Force has been working on financial accountability practices and policies for final review and endorsement by the Metropolitan Council on September 28-29, 2006. We thank all our volunteers who are giving unstintingly and sacrificially of their time and talent and are pleased to announce the following members of the Organizational Task Force.

Deacon John Zarras is attached to Christ the Savior Orthodox Church, Southbury, CT. He participated as a leader in the planning, construction, and consecration of their new church complex. He served as president of the Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Foundation and as a member of the seminary’s Board of Trustees for many years. He is a former senior executive from the transportation industry, having retired five years ago from Emery Worldwide as vice president of North America.


Carol and Al Wetmore are parishioners at Holy Trinity Church, Randolph, NJ, where Carol is the long-time choir director. She also serves as president of The Spirit of Orthodoxy Choir and a Board member of the Pan-Orthodox Society for the Advancement of Liturgical Music [PSALM]. Both Carol and Al have completed long-service careers in human relations with the federal government, during which time Carol was a Mid-Career Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University.

Matushka Mary Buletza Breton is a parishioner of Annunciation Church, Brick, NJ. She is the daughter of a priest, has been very active in all aspects of Church life, and has held leadership and financial positions in numerous parishes and church affiliated organizations. She is a Certified Public Accountant CPA with more than twenty-five years experience in public accounting. Her specialty areas include tax consulting and financial planning.

Robert Kornafel is a member of the Metropolitan Council and has served on two parish councils, the diocesan council of the Diocese of New York and New Jersey, and now of the Diocese of Washington and New York. He is a retired corporate executive and current business consultant, with significant experience in the development and implementation of personnel and ethical policies and practices for the Steel Division of D.A. Steward Company.

Protodeacon Peter Danilchick is attached to Saint Mary Orthodox Church, OCA Romanian Episcopate, Falls Church, VA, and has served the Church as a deacon domestically and internationally for 31 years. He has served on several non-profit boards and Church councils, including as a trustee of Saint Vladimir’s Seminary. He is a retired executive from Exxon Mobil Corporation having served as president, Exxon China Petroleum and Petrochemical Company, as well as Director of Planning and Economics, and Planning Vice-President for other Exxon Mobil companies worldwide.

The latter three members are also members of the Best Practices Task Force.
