Archimandrite Zacharias of Essex to speak at St. Tikhon’s February 8-10

Archimandrite Zacharias, Ph.D., a monk of Patriarchal Stavropegic Monastery of Saint John the Baptist, Essex, England, will visit and speak at Saint Tikhon’s Monastery and Seminary here February 8-10, 2014.

Father Zacharias is a disciple of Father Sophrony of Essex, founder of Saint John’s Monastery.  Detailed biographical information may be found on Saint Tikhon’s Monastery web site.

Father Zacharias is author of numerous well received works, including Christ, Our Way and Our Life: A Presentation of the Theology of Archimandrite Sophrony; Enlargement of the Heart; Hidden Man of the Heart; and Remember Thy First Love.

“The writings of Archimandrite Zacharias evince that inspiration which is born of the undistorted vision of Christ in glory,” says Christopher Veniamin, Professor of Patristics at Saint Tikhon’s Seminary.

On Saturday, February 8, Vigil will be celebrated in the Monastery Church of Saint Tikhon of Zadonsk, followed by dinner at 6:00 p.m.  Father Zacharias will deliver a talk to the general public at 7:00 p.m.

On Sunday, February 9, he will preach at the Divine Liturgy, and on the morning of Monday, February 10, he will address the seminarians.  That afternoon, he will travel to Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, Yonkers, NY.
