Representatives from the Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America [FOCA] visited Saint Tikhon’s Seminary here on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.

During a lunch-time presentation, they shared with the seminarians the organization’s history, highlighting many of its philanthropic activities. The FOCA has assisted Saint Tikhon’s for many years, most notably through its recent support of the Married Student Housing Project, towards which the organization has pledged $300,000.00. Due to the efforts of the FOCA and others, the families of married seminarians also enjoy gifts from “Saint Nicholas” for themselves and their children each year through the FOCA’s Christmas Wish List program.

Representing the FOCA was Michael Steffaro, who addressed the students about the housing project; Carol Deerson; Archpriest Theodore Boback, FOCA Spiritual Advisor; and Marge Kovach, FOCA Vice President, who spoke about the FOCA’s history and legacy. The seminary’s rector, His Grace, Bishop Michael, also recalled a time when the FOCA assisted a parish that was in need and how much its help meant to the faithful. He then urged all of the students to join with the FOCA in supporting the seminary.

The community of Saint Tikhon’s Seminary would like to thank the FOCA representatives for their visit and for all of the support that they have provided—and continue to provide—over the years to ensure the long-term sustainability of the seminary.
