Hundreds attend Assembly of Bishops’ Cleveland area forum

ACOB

Nearly 300 clergy and laity attended a pan-Orthodox forum at Holy Trinity Church [OCA] here on Sunday, October 27, 2013, to learn about the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North and Central America, pose questions, and offer comments on the progress of Orthodox unity in America.

His Eminence, Metropolitan Savas of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and His Grace, Bishop Peter of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, served as panelists, together with Protodeacon Peter Danilchick of the Orthodox Church in America, a member of the Assembly’s Secretariat.

The event began with the celebration of Vespers and a presentation by Protodeacon Peter, who provided an overview of the Assembly and its achievements to date. He also shared highlights from the fourth annual Assembly meeting in Chicago in September 2013, including a look at the various models of unity discussed at that gathering.  Following the presentation, clergy and laity had an opportunity to ask questions in a town-hall style forum.
