June edition of OCA’s young adult “Wonder Blog” deals with burnout

The June 2012 edition of “Wonder,” the blog of the Orthodox Church in America’s Department of Youth, Young Adult, and Campus Ministries, is now available.  This month’s theme is “Burnout” and focuses burnout and fatigue in the workplace, in Church life, and beyond.

The feature piece is by Archpriest John Jillions, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, who reflects on burnout in our Church life.  Deacon Jason Ketz blends a reflection on our ancient tradition of martyrs with a response to “Outrage Fatigue.”  Priest Christopher Rowe offers helpful advice for keeping balance in the workplace.  Lastly, Archpriest Steven Voytovich shares his experiences with “Compassion Fatigue” and his journey towards understanding it as a warning sign, and not just buzzword or an excuse.

The theme of the July edition of Wonder, “Faithful Scientists,” will feature reflections from science students and professionals on the interaction between their faith and their work. The deadline for submissions is July 10.  As always, readers are invited to submit articles, creative writing, artwork, poetry, photos, and videos for future installments. Suggested topics are always welcome.  Send all materials and comments to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
