On Saturday, April 25, 2015, Orthodox Christians from around the US gathered with other Americans in the US Capital for the third annual March For Marriage.

“The March supports both natural, traditional marriage between one man and one woman as well as the right of every American to hold, profess, and practice his or her religious freedom without coercion or persecution from the State,” said Priest John Parsells, Rector of Christ the Savior Mission, Berlin, MD, an OCA participant.  “The March featured a speech by Father Johannes Hans Jacobse, who addressed the assembled crowd.”

Father Johannes’ speech may be viewed here.

As reported elsewhere on the OCA web site, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, was among the numerous US religious leaders who signed an open letter “to all in positions of public service,” titled “The Defense of Marriage and the Right of Religious Freedom: Reaffirming a Shared Witness.”  The open letter also was signed by His Eminence, Archbishop Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
