“Singing with the Angels” theme of Pacific NW liturgical music seminar

“Singing with the Angels” is the theme of the Pacific Northwest Orthodox Liturgical Singing Seminar slated to be held at the Church of the Annunciation here on Saturday, October 12, 2013.

Prof. David Drillock will offer two morning presentations, “Heavenly Praise and Earthly Worship” and “The Angelic Hymn.” He will continue in the afternoon with a third presentation, “The Choir and the Congregation.”

“Vocal Fundamentals” will be the topic of a presentation by Valerie Yova, who will offer basics on posture, breathing, and connecting the body to one’s voice. In a second session, she will discuss aspects of “Choral Singing,” including the importance of singing pure vowels and how they immediately improve the sound of the choir.

The day will conclude with the celebration of pan-Orthodox Great Vespers, the responses to which will be sung by seminar participants.

Deadline for registration is September 21. Additional information and a registration form may be found in PDF format.
