St. Tikhon’s Seminary Trustees’ fall session includes retreat

STOTS Board

In conjunction with their fall session, members of the Board of Trustees of Saint Tikhon’s Seminary here participated in a retreat facilitated by consultants from the Zielinski Companies on Thursday, October 16, 2014.

The Zielinski Companies assists and serves the management needs of religious institutions and other non-profit organizations with financial, planning, and management consulting services.  Greg Zielinski, PhD and Dawn Miller, CFRE, focused the five hour session on the responsibilities and duties of a not-for-profit board, fund development, and the role of trustees in fundraising and board self assessment.  Holding periodic retreats is also an important dimension of board, as well as faculty, development.  This is a critical juncture in terms of board development, as Saint Tikhon’s is currently in the midst of a self study in preparation for an upcoming reaccreditation review with the Association of Theological Schools (ATS).

Mr. Michael Herzak, Board Chair, reflected on the retreat:  “The session was well received by the STOTS Board and will be invaluable going forward.”
