Parish Background

In the autumn of 2002,  at the direction of His Grace Bishop NIKOLAI, Archpriest Jonah Andrew organized a group of parishioners from St. Innocent Cathedral to form a mission parish on the west side of the city of Anchorage. Served by Priest Peter Chris after Father Jonah’s transfer to Juneau, the mission is currently guided by Archpriest Michael J. Oleksa and is planning to purchase its own facilities somewhere in southwest Anchorage during 2004. Regular attendance at the storefront chapel has increased to approximately 40 active adult members, worshipping in English, Unangan Aleut, Yup’ik Eskimo and Slavonic.
