Parish Background

The Monastic Community of St Silouan the Athonite was founded in 1995 as a Missionary Fraternity to serve as a central home community for various monks and nuns, most of whom live in various places across Canada.  It is expected that some monastics may live at the Episcopal residence, but other duties keep other monastics at a distance.  It is not, therefore, the usually expected kind of monastic community, but serves exceptional purposes in exceptional circumstances.
