General Location
St Tikhon of Zadonsk Monastery Church is located in South Canaan, PA, a village in the Pocono Mountain area of northeast Pennsylvania, located app. 20 minutes east of Scranton, PA.

From New England and New York State Thruway
Take I-84 west towards Scranton, and get off at Exit 17 (Hamlin).  Turn right at the end of the ramp.  Follow 191 north for 6 miles to 196 north.  Follow 196 north for 6 miles and turn right at Lockwoods in South Canaan (just past a school).  Proceed for 1 mile, and the Monastery Church is on the left just past the twin ponds (look for the arch).  The church is on the top of the hill going under the arch.

From the south, north, and west
Take I-81 into Scranton, then take I-84.  Get off at exit 8 (Mt Cobb), and turn left at the stop sign.  Turn right at the traffic light and go approx. 3/4 mile.  After passing the sign for the Monastery, turn left onto Cortez Rd (there is a fire station on the right side of the road opposite the turnoff).  Follow this winding road for 8 miles, then continue straight past Lockwoods in South Canaan.  The Monastery Church is 1 mile up the road on the left (look for the arch) just past the twin ponds.  The church is on the top of the hill going under the arch.

From New Jersey

Schedule of Services

The Monastery serves a complete cycle of Liturgical services as indicated below.  If visiting, please call the Monastery in advance as service times may be changed.  The following is the general time schedule.  A full cycle of services for Lent, Holy Week, and Bright Week are also celebrated. Services are done in English, with some Slavonic.

5:00 AM Matins, followed by Hours and Liturgy (app. 7:00 AM).  On some days, Matins may be served the previous evening as part of a Vigil (see feast days).  DURING GREAT LENT, the services are Nocturns, Matins, Hours, and Typical Psalms.
Daily—Morning

4:45 PM Ninth Hour, followed by Vespers (5:00 PM.) Compline is celebrated later in the evening.  On certain days, Vigil may be served.
Daily—Evening

4:00 PM All-Night Vigil.
Saturday Evening

9:30 AM Divine Liturgy followed by Coffee Hour in the Monastery Trapeza [dining hall].
Sunday Morning

9:00 AM Hours (Preceded by Greeting of the Bishop if Hierarchical Liturgy).
Sunday Morning

4:00 PM Vespers.  5:00 PM Compline with the Akathist to the Icon “She Who is Quick to Hear” or other Akathist.
Sunday Evening

Following Vespers, the Akathist to St Alexis of Wilkes-Barre is celebrated.
Thursday Evening

4:00 PM Vespers and Matins.  DURING GREAT LENT, Matins only is served (since Vespers was served at the Presanctified Liturgy earlier in the day).
Friday Evening

8:00 AM Divine Liturgy (preceded by Third and Sixth Hours beginning at 7:30 AM).
Saturday Morning

10:45 Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts.  On Wednesday Evenings during Lent, Compline is served at the normal time of Vespers.
Wednesday & Friday Mornings During Great Lent

4:00 PM All-Night Vigil.
Eves of Great Feasts

9:00 AM Divine Liturgy, preceded by Hours (and greeting of bishop if Hierarchical Liturgy).  On minor feasts, time may be changed.
