Archbishop Gregory Memorial Scholarship Fund established

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Herman, has blessed an initiative taken by friends of His Eminence, the recently-departed Archbishop Gregory, to establish a memorial scholarship fund for Alaskan seminary students.

Archbishop Gregory, who served the Diocese of Alaska from 1973 until his retirement in 1995, fell asleep in the Lord on April 15, 2008.

“The intent of the scholarship fund is to provide assistance to Orthodox residents of Alaska who require financial aid in pursuing a seminary education,” said the Very Rev. Alexander Garklavs, OCA chancellor. “The specific details of the scholarship fund will be developed and coordinated by the administration of Saint Herman’s Seminary in Kodiak, Alaska.”

Donations to the Archbishop Gregory Memorial Scholarship Fund may be sent to the Orthodox Church in America Chancery, PO Box 675, Syosset, NY 11791. Please make checks payable to “The Orthodox Church in America” and indicate “Archbishop Gregory Memorial Fund” in the memo line.
