Diocese of New England, Albanian Archdiocese planning bioethics conference for clergy and clergy wives
Plans are under way for a Pastoral Symposium on Medical Bioethics for diocesan clergy and their wives from the Diocese of New England and the Albanian Archdiocese. Scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2008 at St. Nicholas Albanian Church in Southbridge, MA, the principal speaker will be Fr. John Breck.
The symposium will focus on various beginning-of-life and end-of-life issues, including embryonic stem cell research, ‘designer’ genes and eugenics, prolonging life vs. prolonging death, palliative care and organ and body donations. The focus of the symposium will be on pastoral responses to parishioners regarding these issues.
