In Memoriam: Protodeacon John Federoff

BRICK, NJ—Protodeacon John Federoff, 59, of Annunciation Orthodox Church here fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, May 30, 2008.

A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Protodeacon John was the son of Frank and Julia Federoff. After graduating from Fort Cherry High School, McDonald, PA, he began studies at Iona College, New Rochelle, NY, and Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, Crestwood, NY, as part of the latter’s pre-theological program. He received a BA from Iona in 1971, and completed his graduate studies at the seminary in 1974.

On January 14, 1973, he married the former Ruth Parsells at Christ the Savior Church, Paramus, NJ, where he was also ordained to the diaconate. His entire ministry was spent at Annunciation Orthodox Church.

On June 25, 2006, he was elevated to the rank of protodeacon by His Beatitude, Metropolitan Herman.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, at Annunciation Orthodox Church, 360 Van Zile Road, Brick, NJ, with the Funeral rite at 7:00 p.m. The Divine Liturgy will be served at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at the church, followed by interment at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Cemetery, Jackson, NJ. Services will be celebrated by parish rector, Archpriest Gary Breton, and diocesan clergy.
