Metropolitan Council endorses Archpriest Eric Tosi as OCA Secretary

At their 2008 spring meeting, members of the the Metropolitan Council of the Orthodox Church in America endorsed the candidacy of Archpriest Eric Tosi as OCA secretary.

A native of New Jersey, Father Eric is a life-long member of the Orthodox Church in America. He studied at Fordham University, Bronx, NY, from which he received undergraduate degrees in economics and history in 1986 and an MA in European history in 1993. In 1996, he received a Master of Divinity degree from Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, Crestwood, NY.

Prior to ordination, Father Eric served in Germany as a captain in the US Army. After completing his military service, he worked as director of a network of business consultants that were located in 42 countries, and later as an associate editor for “The Economist.”

After ordination to the priesthood in 1995, Father Eric served as rector of Saint Nicholas of South Canaan Church, Billings, MT, from 1996 to 2001. During this time he was involved instrumental in planting missions in Bozeman and Helena, MT. In 2001, Father Eric was reassigned as rector of Saint Paul the Apostle Church, Las Vegas, NV. In addition to his pastoral duties, he served on the administration of Diocese of the West as diocesan communication director and currently as a member of the diocesan chancellor’s advisory committee. He also served as president and vice-president of the Life Giving Springs Retreat Center, Boulder City, NV, managing the center’s board of trustees, initiating and supervising all financial and business plans, and monitoring daily operations.

From 2001 to the present, Father Eric has chaired the OCA’s Department of Evangelization. He also has lectured on missions and evangelization at seminaries and in parishes and deaneries across North America.

Father Eric and his wife, Matushka Christina, are the parents of two children, Alexander and Kyra.

“Father Eric’s name will now be presented to the Holy Synod for their blessing of his appointment as OCA Secretary,” said Archpriest Andrew Jarmus, OCA director of Ministries and Communications.
