Mother Alexandra Memorial Retreat to be held Saturday, 22 September

The annual Mother Alexandra Memorial Retreat will be held at the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration here on Saturday, September 22, 2007.

The retreat will open with the singing of the Akathistos Hymn and a procession with the Ellwood City icon of the Mother of God at 11:00 a.m. A memorial lunch and time to enjoy the monastery grounds and visit the bookstore follows at noon. At 1:30 p.m., Protopresbyter Thomas Hopko, retired dean of Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, will deliever the annual lecture, titled “To Love as God Loves: Reflections on Living in Community—Parish, Family, Monastery.” The retreat will conclude with the celebration of the Vigil at 4:00 p.m.
