New Resource Handbook article shares the idea of “Communal House Blessings”

A common problem for a priest during the Theophany house blessing season is how to visit as many parishioners’ homes as possible and at the same time engage in meaningful pastoral contact during these visits. Holy Trinity Church of Overland Park, Kansas, has addressed this challenge by grouping up to four homes in close proximity. Parish Rector, Archpriest Timothy Sawchak, will bless the first three homes and then has those three families join in at the fourth house for the blessing and a pot luck meal. See the Parish Development section of the Resource Handbook to read an article on Communal House Blessings and learn the positive benefits of this approach.

The Resource Handbook is published through the Department of Christian Service and Humanitarian Aid (formerly called the Department of Christian Witness and Service). Resource Handbook articles are available online.
