St. Vladimir’s Seminary seeks Bursar, Marketing Director

CRESTWOOD, NY [OCA Communications]—Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary here is seeking a full-time bursar and marketing director.

The bursar will oversee all facets of accounting and treasury operations and reports to the seminary’s chief financial officer. Specific duties include processing all accounts payable, reconciling monthly bank statements, monitoring daily cash flow, processing bimonthly payroll, allocating expenditures to various departments and areas, monitoring and balancing student accounts, tracking investment activity, producing a variety of quarterly and annual year-end financial reports, generating reports and information for the external auditors relating to year-end activities, and providing financial guidance and support to the various department heads and the chief financial officer.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in math, an eye for detail, an ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks, and problem solving skills. In addition, he or she will possess technical proficiency in a variety of software packages including Excel and Word, experiencing in utilizing general ledger software, and knowledge of ADP payroll processing. A college degree is required.

The marketing director will manage all facets of the seminary’s publishing and bookstore operations and will be expected to achieve yearly budgeted financial targets, develop marketing campaigns and catalogues, analyze marketing and promotional activities to maximize efficiencies, and supervise the customer service center, which includes the processing of orders, warehousing, and distribution. In addition, he or she will be expected to penetrate new markets and distribution channels, develop and introduce new products, maintain customer databases and invoicing records, establish optimum inventory levels and replenishment cycles, interface with the faculty publications committee, and maintain retail bookstore operations and customer merchandizing initiatives. Other essential duties include coordination and implementation of special marketing events and the ability to oversee a staff of four full-time employees and a part-time staff.

The successful candidate will be goal oriented, possess the ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks, and display a commitment to customer satisfaction. Experience in retail, catalogue, and/or publishing is essential, as is an undergraduate degree. Additional requirements include masters degree in theology or equivalent experience and a solid understanding of Orthodox Church life.
