OISM was organized in the 1960s to foster closer relationships between students of canonical Orthodox seminaries in the US and Canada. Seminaries active in OISM include Christ the Savior Seminary, Johnstown, PA; Holy Cross Seminary, Brookline, MA; St. Herman Seminary, Kodiak, AK; St. Tikhon Seminary, South Canaan, PA; St. Vladimir Seminary, Crestwood, NY; and St. Andrew Seminary, Winnipeg, MB.
Each seminary elects a representative to serve as a liaison between the interim board and their respective school.
