Mr. John Charles Zoranski, 83, a resident of Kingston, PA fell asleep in the Lord, surrounded by his loved ones, on Friday afternoon, March 24, 2023, at his home. His wife of 43 years was the late Doris Washington (Wasickanin) Zoranski, who fell asleep in the Lord on April 13, 2010.

Born on May 7, 1939, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, John was the son of the late Edmund B. Zoranski and Helen R. Romanowski Zoranski.

Raised in Kingston, John was a graduate of the former Kingston High School, Class of 1957. Following high school, he went on to attend Kings College, Wilkes-Barre, where, in 1961, he attained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. John also furthered his education at the University of Utah.

John was a devout member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral, Wilkes-Barre, where, over the years, he served as a member of its trustee board; as a member of its executive committee; as co-chairman of its dedication committee; and as chairperson of its iconography painting project. Active within the Orthodox Church in America, John served his Diocese in the Wilkes-Barre Deanery as well as for the OCA as a member of the Metropolitan Council.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend John’s viewing and funeral service which will both be held in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral, 591 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.  The viewing will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with Panikhida to be celebrated at 6:30 PM. A Requiem Funeral Service for John will be celebrated on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 10:00 AM, with the Reverend Father Gregory G. White, Sr., his Pastor, serving as celebrant.

Interment will follow in the Eastern Orthodox Lawn of Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas.
