On Friday, August 6, the great feast of the Transfiguration, Priest Alessandro Margheritino, Secretary of the Orthodox Church in America presided at the celebration of the festal Divine Liturgy at Saint Sergius Chapel. Towards the end of the liturgy, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon blessed fruit as is traditional for this feast. After the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, Archpriest Alexander Rentel, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, read prayers for safe travel for His Beatitude and Father Alessandro, who are both leaving later in the day for the annual Pilgrimage to Spruce Island for the feast of Saint Herman of Alaska.
