In Memoriam: Archbishop Job of Chicago and the Midwest
A comprehensive tribute to His Eminence, the late Archbishop Job of Chicago and the Midwest, is in the final stages of preparation and is slated to appear on the web site of the Orthodox Church in America during the first week of January 2010.
Archbishop Job fell asleep in the Lord unexpectedly on Friday, December 18, 2009 en route from Cleveland to Chicago. Funeral services, at which His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, members of the Holy Synod of Bishops, and hierarchs representing several jurisdictions concelebrated, were held at Chicago’s Holy Trinity Cathedral on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 22 and 23. Interment followed at Saint John the Baptist Church, Black Lick, PA, on Saturday, December 26.
The tribute will feature photographs, an expanded biography, and related information submitted by many faithful throughout the Church.
At the suggestion of many individuals, attempts are being made to gather photographs of some of Archbishop Job’s iconographic works, which also will be posted. Those who may have photographs of his iconography are invited to send attachments to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) no later than Sunday evening, January 3, 2010.
In the meantime
- a gallery of funeral services in Chicago has been posted on the web site of the Diocese of the Midwest.
- galleries of the interment in Black Lick, PA have been posted on the web site of the Diocese of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania and the web site of the OCA’s Representation Church of Saint Catherine the Great Martyr in Moscow.
May the memory of Archbishop Job be eternal “where there is neither sickness, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life everlasting.”
