Ukrainian Archbishop visits Metropolitan Jonah at OCA Chancery
His Eminence, Archbishop Anthony of Boryspil, Ukraine, was the guest of His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah at the Chancery of the Orthodox Church in America here on Monday, February 8, 2010.
Archbishop Anthony is the Rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary in the Ukrainian capital.
After praying in Saint Sergius Chapel, the hierarchs discussed matters of mutual interest affecting their respective Churches. Archbishop Anthony conveyed personal greetings from His Beatitude, Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine, on whose behalf he extended an invitation to Metropolitan Jonah to visit the Church of Ukraine in the near future.
Metropolitan Jonah invited Archbishop Anthony to visit the theological schools of the Orthodox Church in America and expressed the hope that cooperation would be established between the theological schools of the OCA and the Church in Ukraine.
Archbishop Anthony is in the US as a guest of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia [ROCOR] to visit Holy Trinity Seminary, Jordanville, NY and ROCOR monasteries and parishes. He was accompanied by his secretary, Andrei Romanov, and Protodeacon Vladimir Tsurikov, Dean of Holy Trinity Seminary.
Also participating in the discussions were Archpriest Alexander Garklavs, OCA Chancellor, and Archpriest Leonid Kishkovsky, Director of External Affairs and Interchurch Relations.
