Prayers requested in wake of Arizona shooting
The prayers of the faithful of the Orthodox Church in America are being asked for victims of the January 8, 2011 Tucson, AZ shooting that killed six and injured 14 others, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords [D-Ariz].
“While public debates attempt to cast blame for such tragedies, as Orthodox Christians, we cannot lose sight of our fundamental duty to pray for those most affected by the tragedy and to discern a Christ-like response,” said Archpriest Alexander Garklavs, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America. “Such incidents are painful reminders that we indeed live in a fallen world, in need of constant prayer, vigilance, and the spirit of love and reconciliation.”
