Arrival of Metropolitan Herman with Transfer of Relics and Holy Articles at Chancery

On Tuesday July 30, 2002 His Beatitude Metropolitan HERMAN, the newly elected Primate of the Orthodox Church in America arrived at the Chancery Office.

His Beatitude was received by retired Metropolitan Theodosius in the Chapel of St Sergius and greeted by the Chancellor, Protopresbyter Robert Kondratick and members of the staff of the Chancery.

Metropolitan Herman greeted the staff, “I look forward to working with you and it is my hope that we will be able to continue the good work that you have accomplished with Metropolitan Theodosius.”

After blessing the members of the Chancery staff, His Beatitude Metropolitan Herman received the holy relics and articles that are entrusted to his care: Chrism, Relics, Antimins, Vestments, and official documents.

Elected on Monday July 22, 2002 by the Holy Synod of Bishops during the 13th All-American Council, His Beatitude Metropolitan Herman will make his first Primatial visit to Alaska for the celebration of the feast of St Herman of Alaska, the first Saint of North America and his heavenly patron.
