On Saturday, August 19, 2000, the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church in association with StreamingRussia.com and the AMT Group, will present a live webcast of the consecration of Moscow’s majestic Christ the Savior Cathedral.

His Holiness, Patriarch Aleksy II of Moscow and All Russia, will be the principal celebrant at the consecration, which coincides with the Orthodox celebration of the Great Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord. A delegation from the Orthodox Church in America, headed by His Eminence, Archbishop HERMAN of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania, His Grace, Bishop SERAPHIM of Ottawa and Canada, and Protopresbyter Robert Kondratick, OCA Chancellor, and others also will participate in the historic celebration.

“It is also expected that principal leaders from the Russian Federation will attend the consecration, which is certain to be an event of ineffable majesty, color and sound,” according to Mr. Lewis Nescott, spokesman for the webcast project and member of Three Saints Orthodox Church, Ansonia, CT.

The webcast will be linked directly through the Moscow Patriarchates home page. Viewers will need to download either Real Player 7 or Real Player 8 Basic Beta. Both versions of Real Player may be downloaded free of charge. The starting time for the live webcast has been scheduled for 8:45 AM Moscow time. The webcast will also be available “on demand” at least one month after the consecration.
