Metropolitan Theodosius to attend benefit concert for Firefighter’s families

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Theodosius, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, will be the honored guest at a concert of Orthodox Church music for the benefit of families of firefighters who lost their lives in the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center.

The concert, which will be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Virgin Protection, 59 East Second Street, New York at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2002, will be presented by the Spirit of Orthodox Choir, under the direction of Aleksei Shipovalnikov. The choir, which is composed of singers from Orthodox parishes in the New York-New Jersey area, will present a wide variety of compositions reflecting the range and quality of the liturgical life of the Orthodox Church.

Proceeds from the concert will be distributed to families of firefighters from Manhattan’s Great Jones Street Firehouse through the cathedral parish and the Orthodox Church in America.
