Metropolitan Theodosius to celebrate Nativity, Theophany Services at DC Cathedral

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Theodosius, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, will celebrate services for the Great Feasts of the Nativity and Theophany of Our Lord at Saint Nicholas Cathedral here.

On Monday, December 24, the Eve of the Nativity, Metropolitan Theodosius will preside at the Vesperal Liturgy of Saint Basil the Great at 10:00 a.m. He also will celebrate the Nativity Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. On Tuesday, December 25, the Great Feast of the Nativity, Metropolitan Theodosius will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. During the Liturgy, His Beatitude will ordain Valery Shemchuk, a St Tikhon’s Seminarian to the Diaconate. He will also preside at the Divine Liturgy on Wednesday, December 26, the Feast of the Synaxis of the Mother of God.

Services for the Great Feast of Theophany at which Metropolitan Theodosius will officiate include the Liturgy with the Blessing of Water at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, the Theophany Vigil at 5:00 p.m. the same day, and the festal Liturgy with the Great Blessing of Water at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 6. Metropolitan Theodosius will be assisted at all services by the Very Rev. Constantine White, Cathedral Dean, and other members of the cathedral clergy.

Out of pastoral concern & commitment for the Georgian and Russian Mission Community, a Vigil will be celebrated on January 6 at 7pm and a Divine Liturgy on January 7 at 10am.
