Mr Paul Hunchak, Chancellors Assistant, accepts post with Met Life

On Friday, April 7, 2000, staff members at the Chancery of the Orthodox Church in America here gathered for a farewell luncheon in honor of Mr. Paul Hunchak, Assistant to the Chancellor, who resigned his position to take a managerial post in the Corporate and Foundation Contribution and Community Relations Unit of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., New York, NY.

Mr. Hunchak joined the OCA Chancery staff as an Administrative Assistant after his graduation from Saint Vladimirs Seminary, Crestwood, NY, in 1990. The following year he spent several months studying at the Ecumenical Institute, Bossey, Switzerland. In 1993, he was named Assistant to the Chancellor and Secretary of the Preconciliar Commission.

Since 1995, Mr. Hunchak also has served as Secretary of the Orthodox Church in America, in addition to his other duties. He was also responsible for a variety of other tasks, including coordination of the publication of the OCA’s annual Sourcebook and Church Directory and advising and assisting various OCA administrative units and boards.

Mr. Hunchak is married to the former Elena Andruszko of Perth Amboy, NJ, a 1991 SVS graduate.

“Mr. Hunchak’s departure is a great loss for the Chancery,” said Protopresbyter Robert Kondratick, Chancellor. “The number of tasks he performed was truly noteworthy. While he will be deeply missed, we wish him well in his new position at Metropolitan Life.”
