SYOSSET, NY [OCA]—The Orthodox Church in America’s web site, http://www.oca.org, was voted “Best Jurisdictional Web Site” for 2010 by the Eastern Christian New Media Awards.
“The Eastern Christian New Media Awards began in 2008 as an opportunity for quality Eastern Christian outlets to gain higher visibility on the Internet,” according to the Awards’ web site at ecawards.blogspot.com. “The awards are open to all Eastern Christian blogs regardless of affiliation. Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Eastern Catholic, Assyrian Church of the East, et al. are welcome and encouraged to be submitted for voting.
“The respective awards categories are nominated by people from all over the world. After a period of time the nominations are closed and the nominations lists are finalized. The nominees are then voted on for some weeks. Finally, the winners are announced and—with the gracious aid of our sponsors—prizes are sent out.”
Announcement of the award took the OCA’s web site team by surprise!
