Saint Vladimir Seminary to Host 35th Annual Education Day October 2

CRESTWOOD, NY [OCA Communications]—For the thirty-fifth consecutive year, Saint Vladimir Seminary here will host its annual Orthodox Education Day on the seminary campus Saturday, October 2, 2004. The theme for this year’s event is “I Have Chosen You: Reflections on John 15:16.

The annual outdoor event attracts a large number of people from parishes across the continent for a day of worship, education, fellowship, and a variety of ethnic foods. The seminary bookstore also will offer special discounts throughout the day, while children and youth will enjoy numerous activities in a tent set up especially for them.

His Beatitude, Metropolitan Herman, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America and SVS President, will preside at the opening Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. The choir of Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, Worcester, Massachusetts, will sing the responses during the Liturgy. Prof. John Erickson, SVS dean, will welcome attendees to the seminary campus.

Afternoon workshops exploring various aspects of the day’s theme will follow. His Eminence, Archbishop Dmitri of Dallas and the South, will be a featured speaker.
