Update on the health of Archbishop Peter of New York

While it had been reported on September 15, 2001 that His Eminence, Archbishop Peter of New York and New Jersey of the Orthodox Church in America would be released from the hospital and transferred to a rehabilitation facility, his Doctors later determined it would be better to have His Eminence stay until the first week of October. At that time, upon receiving approval from his Physicians, he will be moved to the rehabilitation facility.

Initially, Archbishop Peter had been placed in the Critical Care unit of Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville, NY, where he underwent surgery for a variety of internal ailments. During his hospitalization, he fought a series of infections. He was transferred to a private room two weeks ago and and has made satisfactory improvement.

Archbishop Peter, who presides over nearly 60 parishes, missions and communities throughout New York and New Jersey, will continue to recuperate in a rehabilitation facility in White Plains, NY.

Cards may be sent to Archbishop Peter, 33 Hewitt Avenue, Bronxville, NY 10708.
