Visit by Russian Bishop to OCA Chancery

His Beatitude, Metropolitan THEODOSIUS welcomed His Grace, Bishop TIKHON of Arkhangelsk and Kholmogory, Russia to the Chancery of the Orthodox Church in America here on Tuesday, November 7, 2000.

Bishop TIKHON, who was accompanied by his brother, Archpriest Peter Stepanov, delivered greetings on behalf of His Holiness, Patriarch ALEKSY II of Moscow to Metropolitan Theodosius and the faithful of the Orthodox Church in America.

After joining together in prayer in the Chancery Chapel of St Sergius of Radonezh, Metropolitan THEODOSIUS invited Bishop TIKHON to venerate the relics of the North American saints enshrined therein. Bishop TIKHON then presented Metropolitan THEODOSIUS with an icon of the Archangel Michael, the patron saint of the city of Arkhangelsk.

In thanking Bishop TIKHON, Metropolitan THEODOSIUS noted the mutual bond of love and cooperation that exists between the Orthodox Church in America and the Russian Orthodox Church, adding that the relationship continues to deepen as both Churches continue to respond to the call of the Gospel in their respective lands.

A former student at St Vladimir’s Seminary, Crestwood, NY, Bishop TIKHON also visited Chicago, where he was hosted by His Grace, Bishop JOB of Chicago and the Midwest.
