16th AAC raises over $6K for SS. Martha and Mary Maternity Home

Ss. Martha and Mary Home

A total of $6,300.00 collected during liturgical services at the recent 16th All-American Council of the Orthodox Church in America has been donated to Saints Martha and Mary Home, Escondido, CA.

“As in past years, donations received at All-American Councils were earmarked for a charity within the host diocese,” said Archpriest Eric Tosi, OCA Secretary.  “His Grace, Bishop Benjamin, requested that the funds be donated to Saints Martha and Mary Maternity Home, Escondido, CA, an institution of the Diocese of the West established in 2001 to provide a private and confidential venue for women in need as an alternative to abortion.”

The Home, which also provides post-abortion grief and reconciliation counseling, receives educational assistance funds through a generous grant from the Order of Saint Ignatius of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese.

“The founder, Sarah Elisabet Oftedal, has worked with the many women who have come through the home,” Father Eric added. “At present, the Home is looking for a new house mother to assist in running this ministry.”
