40 Day Remembrance of His Eminence, Archbishop Dmitri

Archbishop Dmitri

The members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America, meeting at Saint Sergius Chapel at the Chancery here, celebrated a 40-Day Memorial for the repose of the soul of His Eminence, Archbishop Dmitri, retired Archbishop of Dallas and the South, on Thursday, October 6, 2011. The Memorial followed the celebration of the Divine Liturgy marking the Feast of Saint Innocent [Veniaminov] of Moscow.

Archbishop Dmitri fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 87 at his residence in Dallas, TX on Sunday morning, August 28. Funeral services were celebrated at Dallas' Saint Seraphim Cathedral -- the mission parish he established in the 1950s that subsequently became the cathedral of the Diocese of the South.
