Dr. Peter Brown to deliver annual Schmemann Lecture at St. Vladimir’s Seminary Friday, January 18

Dr. Peter Brown, Princeton University’s Philip and Beulah Rollins Professor of History, Emeritus, will present the 30th Annual Father Alexander Schmemann Lecture at Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, Yonkers, NY this Friday, January 18, 2013. His presentation, titled “Constantine, Eusebius, and the Future of Christianity,” will focus on how Christians approach the study of history.

Prior to the lecture, at 7:00 p.m., Dr. Brown will be awarded a Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa, by the Seminary’s Board of Trustees and faculty. The academic convocation and lecture will launch the 75th anniversary celebration of Saint Vladimir’s Seminary.

The free and public lecture, with reception following, will be held in the John G. Rangos Family Building on the seminary campus. SVS Bookstore will extend its daily hours past 5:00 p.m. on that day and will be open prior to and following the lecture.
