“My Friends In The Faith” is the theme of the 2012 Celebration of Faith Creative Arts Contest sponsored by the Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America [FOCA].
As in past years, the contest is open to all Orthodox Christian children and youth. Entrants need not be members of an FOCA chapter.
Entrants may submit original pieces of creative writing, music, photography, and visual arts. Suggestions include photos of friends in Orthodox circles, essays or other writings detailing how one’s friends have spiritually impacted one’s life, drawings or paintings showing faith and friends in action, musical compositions based on friends/friendship and spirituality, etc.
A detailed list of rules for each category and entry forms may be found on the FOCA web site under the “Juniors” tab.
Entries must be submitted by April 12, 2012.
All entries will be displayed at the FOCA’s annual national bowling and basketball tournaments in East Brunswick, NJ May 4-6, 2012. [For more info, visit related article on oca.org.]
Founded in Pittsburgh in 1927 as the “Federated Russian Orthodox Clubs” — the name change was effected in 1998 — the FOCA is a national organization open to all Orthodox Christians seeking fellowship and service projects. Throughout its history, the FOCA has been especially committed to youth ministry programs on the local, regional, and national levels. Many parishes of the Orthodox Church in America sponsor active senior and junior chapters.
