OCA young adult “Wonder” blog begins third year

The Department of Youth, Young Adult, and Campus Ministries inaugurates the third-year of publication of its blog, “Wonder”, with its January 2012 issue, can now be read here.

The current issue offers a number of reflections on the question, “Why are you still here?” exploring why adult members of the Church chose to remain active in their faith from their childhood to the present time.

In “Because of the Words of Eternal Life”, His Grace, Bishop Matthias of Chicago, answers the question by sharing his own life in the Church, personal loss, and vocation.  Archpriest Daniel Rentel, a retired priest from Ohio, traces God’s hand through his 49 years of priestly ministry in “Because Belief Leads to Life” while Dr. Peter Bouteneff, a professor at Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, Crestwood, NY, emphasizes the importance of keeping our focus on Christ despite the problems and difficulties of Church life in “Because of the Pursuit of Jesus Christ”.  In “Because the Journey Never Ends”, Mrs. Rebekah Moll recounts her attempts to find her place in the Church as an adult.  Finally, in Mr. William Kopcha’s “Because of that Charlie Brown Christmas Special”, the author shares how a simple cartoon made him realize the importance of his family in Christ.

“Wonder,” an on-line publication of the OCA’s Department of Youth, Young Adult and Campus Ministry, provides thought-provoking articles for young adults and college students and those who minister to them.

The theme of the February issue is “This American Saint,” in which personal stories surrounding the lives and influence of our North American saints will be presented.  Submissions are always welcome.  Deadline for submission is February 10, 2012.
