St. Herman’s and St. Tikhon’s Seminaries to hold commencement exercises Memorial Day weekend

While commencement exercises at Saint Vladimir’s Seminary, Crestwood, NY, were held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 see news release graduates of Saint Tikhon’s Seminary here and Saint Herman’s Seminary, Kodiak, AK, will be honored over the Memorial Day weekend.

At Saint Tikhon’s Seminary, commencement exercises will be held on Saturday, May 26, at 1:00 p.m., in conjunction with the annual pilgrimage to Saint Tikhon’s Monastery.  The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in the monastery church at 9:00 a.m.  His Grace, Bishop John of Worcester and New England of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Diocese of North America, will be the commencement speaker.  A banquet honoring the graduates will be held immediately after the ceremony at Saint Michael’s Center, East Jermyn, PA.

On Sunday, May 27, following the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, commencement exercises for graduates of Saint Herman’s Seminary, Kodiak, AK, will be held at Saint Mary Parochial School.  His Eminence, Archbishop Benjamin of San Francisco and the West and Locum Tenens of the Diocese of Alaska, will recognize the graduates, Priest Michael Nicolai and Deacon Andrew Wassilie, and award Reader’s Certificates to those who completed the seminary’s two-year program of studies.  The keynote speaker will be Archpriest Stephan Heckman, rector of Transfiguration of Our Lord Church [Yukon Deanery], Pilot Station, AK.
